Pre-production on Interstellar is now in full swing. The film already landed its lead in Matthew McConaughey, so director Christopher Nolan has turned his attention to some other roles. First up, The Dark Knight Rises’ Anne Hathaway.
Hathaway was great in Rises as Catwoman, or Selina Kyle, so it’s nice to see Nolan re-unite with her although it’s not out of character. If you even have a passing interest in Nolan’s films you’ll know that he loves to work with the same people over and over again.
Michael Caine, for instance, was in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, The Prestige and Inception. So don’t be surprised if he also decides to join the Interstellar party. In fact, don’t be surprised if anyone from Inception or The Dark Knight Trilogy returns for Interstellar.
We still don’t know too much about Interstellar other than its about wormholes and is based on the work of astrophysicist Kip Thorne. We do know that the project was set up for Steven Spielberg and that he thought it could be the next Jurassic Park but dropped out, and that Nolan is marrying an original idea of his with the original script, which was written by his brother Jonathan Nolan.
We’ll likely continue to see casting until the summer, when filming will likely start. It kind of has to start then as it’s set to arrive in theaters November 7, 2014. [Deadline]
